THE SPIRIT OF PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN BALTIC SCHOOLS
“The Spirit of Partnership in Europe” – that’s the name of the project in which three frontier cities take part: Valga (Estonia), Valka (Latvia) and Visaginas (Lithuania).
Friendly communication between these three schools started some months ago. At first partnership begun between the schools from Valga and Valka. Afterwards, the idea of the common project was born and they decided to find the third partner from Lithuania and to be exact they were looking for their future colleagues from a city near the border which name would begin from letter “V”.
So Visaginas school “Gerosios vilties” joined the project of two countries. The headmaster of this school A.Milko said that everything had been made by chance, when he had run into the leaders of the project from Estonia and Latvia. During the few last months pupils from the tenth and eleventh forms were communicating through the net, they also had some videoconferences. A week ago they met in Visaginas for the first time. They all came to the meeting where the mayor V. Rackauskas was present to tell more about the project in which they took part and to discuss the questions they have been considering.
The aim of the project “The Spirit of Partnership in Europe” is to create a web site while communicating with each other with the help of modern technologies. Three best-made web sites will be granted money premiums from German funds and also will be given a financial possibility to visit Germany. The participants have already made their own logo with the abbreviation “VVV”, which consists of first letters from all city names.
“We want to show ourselves and to create the better tomorrow for us. We want to declare about ourselves with the help of the web site, which we are creating now.’’
“It is only the begginig of the joint work. However, I think that you can take part in more serious projects, which will be concentrated not only on the teenagers’ exchanges, but on the providing new equipment for your schools as well. I can only support you in this”, - this was the answer of the mayor.
The participants were contemplating ecological problems, youth immigration, and the possibile partnership between countries.
