"Gerosios vilties" School

The history of school.
A man acquires a lot of experience on his long way of life and loses as well but the school years always follow him like the sun ray.
School is our way to light. Here a man is formed as a citizen, gets knowledge, a variety of feelings, the wings to his dream; here he starts looking for his ideal. It is impossible to write the history of the school on one piece of paper because it is alive directly connected to its students who are now not only all over Lithuania but also all over the world. The school lives their virtues, loyalty and care.

In 1982 the first bell rang at the just built school. Then it was called "Secondary school Nr 2 named after a. Snechkus, later it was given a fine name - school "Good hope ". It has been giving kind and light hopes to its students for many years. That sunny September day in 1982 370 pupils started to study at school and 25 teachers started to work.

Nowadays school "Gerosios vilties" is the largest school in Visaginas. 101 teachers and 1059 pupils work and study in it. The largest number of pupils studied at this school in 1985-1986 school years. 111 teachers taught 2611 pupils. Our school is considered to have a good psychological microclimate and democratic traditions. The school is also authoritative with a high level of teaching. A united and creative team of teachers work here: 2 expert teachers; 37 methodologists and 51 senior teachers. All teachers give their knowledge to their children.
Properly well organized systematic work helps develop a high professionalism and creativity of teachers. A Pedagogical Club "Dialogue" - a creative laboratory of teachers works from 1987, it studies theoretical problems in Pedagogic, Psychology, new methods of teaching are tested here. Teachers get to know the new innovations, share with their work experience. The Pedagogical Club practices a team work, stimulates teachers to a project and research work. The innovative technologies of teaching and their changes are analyzed at the meetings, conferences, and seminars of the Pedagogical Club "Dialogue"..

In 1986 under the initiative of O.Lachotskaja and thanks to efforts of most of the teachers, a school education museum was founded here. At the museum there are interesting exhibits, which reminds now our school looked like last century. There is a special chronicle at the museum, which tells about the history of the school "Gerosios vilties".

In order to show good results at work, it is necessary to have a rest, that's why different kinds of activities take place at our school, such as: subject weeks, olympiads, festivals and computer competitions. We are proud of our theatre-studio.

Festivals, which are celebrated at our school are: the first of September, the Teacher's Day, School Birthday, Merry New Year Carnivals, a holiday "One hundred days before exams". Our pupils like competitions, that's why such games as CMI take place every year, even the team of teachers take part in this quizzes. The pupils compete for the titles of "Miss" and "The Knight" of our school. Remarkable holidays are held at a Primary school such as: competetions of musical performances, postcards; a competition of greetings, concerts. After the festival of the Last Bell our school says Good-bye to its school-leavers.
It is impossible to write the history of the school on one sheet of paper, because it's alive, it's really connected with it's pupils, who study not only in Lithuania, but also in the whole world. School lives due to its virtues faithfulness and attention. And the history of our school will be constantly enriched, because there are pupils here who are the real patriots of the school "Gerosios vilties".
