The spirit of cooperation in Europe

Cooperation has always been an integral part of people's lives. From time immemorial people have been communicating, sharing a cumulative experience, arranging joint celebrations, trading with each other.
Trade is probably the main thing in cooperation. The man is constantly improving his personality and at the same time his necessities in life increase - he needs naturally-made food, comfortable accommodation, luxurious and fashionable clothes etc. However a small and poor country can not provide people with all these necessities, that's why it looks for the partners who are willing to cooperate and supply goods.
The European countries have always been considered as friendly. For a long time they have been trading with each other, solving common problems, inventing common laws.
Every European country is unique in its own way and together these countries represent a rich, strong and friendly community which is a cultural center of all people. Nevertheless every country has its own history, culture, language and traditions. So it is no wonder that people aspire to communicate, share their experience, and learn languages. In the end there will come the time when European countries unite into one strong, friendly and powerful country-continent. And the kind spirit of cooperation will grow stronger and will hover over its land bringing joy and piece to all people.
The most pleasant thing in cooperation is communication. Every man in his life wishes to visit different countries, get acquainted with people’s cultures and traditions, learn as many languages as possible and meet new friends. Really, the more you travel and meet other people, the more interesting and various your life becomes. And it is important that you understand that every person in this huge world is unique IN HIS OWN WAY!

What is a partnership? Firstly, it is a mutual understanding, common values and reciprocal benefits. Mutual understanding should be based on common values, i.e. common history, religion and culture. These are the things, which unite people and countries.
Countries, which are the members of the European Union, have common history, religion (Christianity) and common culture, which roots come form Ancient Greece. And as a consequence the European Union has strong bases for development, it has future.
The main advantage for the countries, which have already entered the European Union, is that there are no borders between them. Due to this fact, people can easily travel through countries which are members of the European Union: study and work. Moreover transporting of different goods and finance becomes not so complicated. Also the European Union is a free market of culture and science.
Nevertheless, in every grand and complicated affair advantages come along with disadvantages: there appears a risk if losing nations’ originality due to the increase of the EU countries’ integration, there is a possibility that economically underdeveloped countries start being subordinate to those which are strong in this respect.
However, with the help of the spirit of partnership it is always possible to find mutually acceptable decisions for any problem.

After the European Union was founded the thought about conversion of Europe in a strong, economically stable community became the main idea for many countries.                Today we are witnessing an active consolidation of the European population; the leaders of the European countries call people to cooperate on an international basis and to try to establish close cultural and economic relationships. The spirit of partnership and unity covers nearly all aspects of internal and external political state in Europe and fills a social life, it also opens up big prospects for education and science.              Today each person in the EU can not just feel this spirit in society but also personally help this all-round cooperation and hereupon contribute to formation of one big building for all Europeans – the European Union.

I live in Europe. Do I? The time, when the location of the countries meant a geographical place, is over. Now everything is a part of some kind of organization or union. UNO, NATO, EU and a lot of other structures are trying to make life better.
Recently our country became part of the European Union , so we live in Europe , but this statement expresses not only the place but also the way of life.
And a real European life means a variety of languages – German, Spanish, French, multicultural society and good level of development, and we are on the way to it. I can’t feel the atmosphere of the great European country in Latvia, but it is only now.
And in the future our little country will be an important unit in the complicated European system.

I live in Europe, do I?

Considering things, I have to say that I do live in Europe. Europe has brought us not only pluses but also some problems which we had at the beginning. A positive thing is that it is easier to cross the border, to travel through Europe. There are now many chances to get money from European fonds, to study abroad, to work abroad and a lot more posibilities. The negative part of this is that our country can not so fast get used to Europe's prices, with our salaries it is quite hard to get by. But I am optimistic and I think that in the future situation will get better and we could really enjoy being a EU country.

When Latvia joined the European Union on 1 of May, I became a part of Europe. Latvia being a member in the EU means I can study for free, e.g., in Scotland, Denmark, Finland and other places. As an EU citizen I can ravel around Europe and need not bother about visas or anything like that. The EU also offers different possibilities for grants for studies abroad or projects I want to carry out.
Living in the territory of the EU means that people from other parts of the world will be able to understand where I came from. Many people overseas believe that Latvia is a part of Russia, but now I can proudly say that I belong to the EU.

I live in Europe, do I?

Some people feel disappointed about Latvia joining the European Union, but I think that this offers a whole new level of opportunities. I as a young Latvian support the EU, because is has opened so many things that I can use. Now I feel that I live in a fully accepted country. I can travel freely, I feel that I am equal with everyone in the EU and I if anyone would ask me if I live in Europe I could proudly answer - yes, I do!
